White Paper Abstract:
In today's highly competitive global economy, enterprise business applications need to be deployed on an extremely reliable and high-performing database platform that ensures data availability and transaction processing as data volume, number of users, and business complexity continue to grow. Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) is a high performance relational database management system for mission-critical, data intensive environments that has been meeting these needs for nearly three decades.
Sybase ASE has been a technology leader since its first release in the late '80s as one of the first database platforms offering innovations such as multithreaded architecture, stored procedures, database triggers, and two-phase commit. Its technology leadership guided many large enterprises, especially in the financial services sector, to embrace ASE for mission-critical, high-volume applications. In its most recent Wave Report for Enterprise Database Management Systems, Forrester Research positioned Sybase ASE in the "Leader" category1, and stated that "Sybase ASE is known for its reliability, robustness, and availability, supports large applications with hundreds and thousands of concurrent users, and is well-suited for customized transactional applications."
Sybase continues to invest in ASE and is a leader in technology innovations that solve critical customer problems and drive strong product momentum. At its most recent annual user conference, Sybase announced that it had achieved double digit license revenue growth in the enterprise database management market for the preceding 18 month period, outpacing the industry including major vendors who have seen little growth and even decline. Strong ASE momentum is being driven by a very committed customer base with a 97 percent customer satisfaction rating, and with the continued addition of new customers. Examples of this include the fact that ASE is deployed by 46 of the top 50 global banks and securities firms, added over 1,000 new customers in the prior year, and in total is used by more than 30,000 companies and organizations worldwide.
