This document discusses a problem some network implementers have experienced with the use of dots as wildcards within zone prefixes. It then presents a general solution to this problem by proposing the use, where possible, of asterisk ("*") wildcards instead. Finally, this document clarifies zone processing logic with a specific reference to the difference between the two methods of configuring wildcards.
