White Paper Abstract:
The Cisco midmarket architecture is designed to meet the needs of medium-sized businesses having 100 to 200 servers per data center. It scales to up to 576 servers without changing its fundamental switching components. It is built around a 10-Gbps unified fabric that supports a smooth transition to 10 Gigabit Ethernet while supporting Fibre Channel over Ethernet and the accompanying simplicity in rack-level cabling. It is a modular system that can scale up or down depending on an organization's heeds, while supporting a simplified top-of-rack approach to cabling. This white paper presents an overview of the midmarket architecture and is the first in a series of white papers the examines the design from different perspectives.
