An RFID system consists of a radio-enabled device that communicates with, or interrogates a
tag or label, which contains an embedded single chip processor and antenna. Just like barcode
scanners, the “interrogator” or RFID reader can be fixed or portable. The tag itself is an extension
of the bar code labels you see everywhere today, only with more intelligence.
